Medical Center Director
On February 7 , 2016, J. Ronald Johnson was appointed as Director of the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center as a board-certified health care professional with more than 20 years of health administration experience.
Previously, Mr. Johnson served as Interim Medical Center Director beginning in May 2015, and Associate Director since arriving at the facility in late 2013. Prior to that, Mr. Johnson served as the Assistant Director, Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System, Pensacola, FL. As Assistant Director, he oversaw the operations of the system’s outpatient clinics, including the activation of the Joint Ambulatory Care Center (JACC), one of VA’s largest multi-specialty outpatient clinics. Also, he oversaw the activation of the Okaloosa County, FL clinic and completed the designs for the Mobile, AL and Panama City, FL clinics. Further, Mr. Johnson has invaluable experience working with Primary Care, Compensation and Pension (C&P), and VA-DoD Collaboration Programs. As recognition of his work with the Department of Defense, in 2007 Mr. Johnson was awarded the Champion of TRICARE Award, the first VA employee bestowed such an honor.
Mr. Johnson has held other positions with the U.S. Army Medical Command, South Texas Veterans Health Care System, VISN 10, and VA Central Office. Also, he served four years on the Graduate Healthcare Administration Training Program (GHATP) Board where he oversaw the Administrative Resident/Fellow Training Program, the Health System Specialist Trainee Program, the Executive MHA Off-Campus Program, and the Army-Baylor MHA Program.
Mr. Johnson graduated from both the Medical College of Virginia and the College of William and Mary. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and was selected as the VA ACHE Regent’s 2006 Young Healthcare Executive of the Year.
Mr. Johnson is married to Lisa Smith Johnson, Lt. Col. (Ret), USAF, and they are happily raising their two children, Colton and Hannah

Mr. Rick Richards was appointed as the Associate Director of Mann-Grandstaff VAMC on August 7, 2016. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Richards was the Clinical Program Manager and Care Coordination Specialist for the Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) at the Puget Sound VAMC. Prior to VA, Mr. Richards was the CEO of multiple long term acute care and rehabilitation hospitals in various states and held various other clinical and administrative health care positions. Mr. Richards has two Master’s degrees in Business Administration and Speech/Language Pathology. He is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and an Air Force Veteran.

Chief of Staff
Dr. Scott W. Nye was appointed as Chief of Staff in July 2016. Dr. Nye received his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio in 1994 and completed his Residency in Surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1999.
He served as the Medical Staff President at Valley Hospital and Medical Center and also as the Chairman of the Board of Directors prior to coming to the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center as a Staff Surgeon September 8, 2010. He was appointed as Chief of Surgery, August 24th, 2014. Dr. Nye has over 16 years of experience in General Surgery.

Associate Director, Patient Care Services-Nurse Exec.
Darci Raschke was selected as the Associate Director for Patient Care Services/Nurse Executive in December 2016. Darci received her Bachelor of Science, Nursing degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato, in 1995. She served in the US Navy as a Nurse and worked for the Navy as a DoD civilian registered nurse until 2008. At that time, Darci began working for the Puget Sound VAMC as a staff nurse, while she completed her Master of Science in Health Sciences degree in 2010. Darci was soon selected as the Assistant Nurse Manager of Primary Care in Seattle.
In 2013, she was offered the position of Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Care at the Mann-Grandstaff VAMC, where she successfully managed a busy, multi-site Primary Care service. In November 2015, Darci was selected as the Associate Chief Nurse Executive for Outpatient Nursing.
