Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center
VA is becoming smoke-free on October 1, 2019, per VHA Directive 1085. The Directive implements a smoke-free policy for patients, visitors, contractors, volunteers, and vendors at VA health care facilities. It is the intention of Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center to have a campus that is fully smoke-free once the negotiations with unions are complete.
The smoke-free policy applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, e-cigarettes, vapes, e-cigars and any combustion of tobacco.
This policy change is part of a nationwide effort to help VA become the provider of choice for Veterans and the reason why Veterans will choose VA.
It’s time we align with the industry standard of care. VA is not alone in recognizing the importance of creating a smoke-free campus. As of 2014, 4,000 health care facilities and four national health care systems in the U.S. have implemented smoke-free grounds.
As a leader in healthcare, we encourage everyone to quit smoking because of the great health benefits associated with being tobacco free. Ask your provider for a treatment referral today! Please visit our Tobacco Free Support page for more information or call VA National Quitline 1-855-QUIT-VET.
