Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center

Flu Shot Clinics

Flu Shot Clinics will be held Monday – Friday from 8am to Noon beginning October 1 in the lobby entrance of the Spokane VA Medical Center.  The last clinic will be held on October 31.  There will not be a clinic on October 8 – Federal Holiday.

Flu shots will be available for Veterans, employees, volunteers and students assigned to the VAMC.  Flu shots are not available for Veteran’s spouses again this year.  Care-givers will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Also available at the Lobby Flu Shot Clinics will be the TDaP vaccine – Pertussis vaccine for adults.  Washington State is experiencing an epidemic of pertussis (whooping cough) and all adults are encouraged to be vaccinated with the TDaP vaccine.  This vaccine is also tetanus vaccine so TDaP vaccination would serve as the “every 10 years” tetanus shot that is recommended for all adults.  Public health authorities state that there does not have to be a specified length of time between a regular tetanus shot and the tetanus shot containing pertussis vaccine.   In the face of an epidemic, every adult should be vaccinated against pertussis.
