Spokane VA Outreach Program recruits Veterans to Medical Center healthcare, programs and services during EWU’s first “Vets Corp” Resource Fair. Hosted by Heather Bahme, an Army Veteran and EWU’s Vets Corps Advisor, the event was deemed a success by presenters and curious Veterans.
More than 600 of EWU’s current students are military veterans. The goal of the fair is to ensure everyone attending understands the types of services and people wanting to assist all Veterans – whether they’re enrolled in a program or not.
Jennifer Allison-Oord, Spokane VAMC’s OEF/OIF/OND Coordinator, along with Women Veterans Program Manager Julie Liss, RN, spent 3-hours meeting and talking with Veterans. In addition, Army Wounded Warrior Program staff were on hand… also helping make the event meaningful and personal for Veterans working to reintegrate into society – socially and financially.
Veterans interested in the next outreach/resource fair should be mindful of the Community Colleges of Spokane’s Veterans Fair, April 10th.
